Theory of a Madman

Before I start this up:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!!!!! 250 YEARS THROUGH STRUGGLE AND STRIFE AND LOOK AT US NOW!!!!!!!! 🦅🇺🇸🗽 GOD BLESS AMERICA!

WOOOOOOO!!!

“To Be the Man, You Have to Beat the Man!”

(Okay now I’m ready for the July 2026 installment)

Theories are like girlfriends (or boyfriends). Some you meet by accident, hang out with for a while, and then quietly drift apart. Some you keep around way too long. And some — the dangerous ones — end up being far more than you bargained for.

“We all know what she is. She’s a Bad, Bad Girlfriend” – Theory of a Deadman

[NSFW WARNING: go look up, if you dare, the music video for “Bad Girlfriend” by Theory of a Deadman, I’m not posting it here! I can’t even post the full set of lyrics]

Enter the American pop culture classic from 2010: The Hot Crazy Matrix:

The infamous Hot Crazy Matrix

I know this pattern and lived it twice as a young man and as a divorced single Dad.

This was so aptly described here in the YouTube explanation:

The Universal “Hot Crazy Matrix”

The infamous matrix laid out a universal truth: everything in life can be plotted somewhere between interesting and insane. And honestly, conspiracy theories work the same way. You encounter one, you evaluate it, you categorize it, and you decide whether it belongs in the No-Go Zone, the Fun Zone, or the Keepers.

(Author’s note: Categorizing something doesn’t mean you have to believe it — or that you can’t. These aren’t criticisms; they’re just my personal filing system.)

🚫 No-Go / Danger Zone

These are the theories you smile at, shake your head, and back away from slowly — the ones that live in the “Do Not Engage” quadrant of the matrix.

  • Flat Earth
  • Moon Landing Faked
  • Aliens & Lizard People
  • 9/11 Inside Job
  • Epstein Island
  • Global Warming / Climate Change

🎉 Fun Zone

These aren’t harmful. They’re just… entertaining. The intellectual equivalent of a summer fling.

  • Birds Aren’t Real
  • Life Is a Simulation
  • Atlantis
  • Extraterrestrial Pyramid Construction
WAKE UP!

🔒 Keepers

These are the theories that aren’t really “theories” anymore — they’re debates, investigations, or structural realities that shape the world whether we like it or not.

  • COVID‑19 Lab Leak
  • Great Replacement / Migration Patterns
  • Globalists / WEF / Davos

From Theories to Cycles

At some point — maybe it’s age, maybe it’s experience, maybe it’s just being Gen X — you stop looking at theories as isolated ideas and start seeing them as patterns. Not secret cabals, not shadowy puppet masters, not lizard people running the DMV.

Just… cycles. Incentives. Demographics. Geography. Institutions doing what institutions always do.

Gen X grew up in the gap between two worlds:

Analog childhood, digital adulthood.
Cold War certainty, post‑Cold War chaos.
Parents who trusted institutions, kids who watched those institutions crumble in real time.

So instead of believing in conspiracies, we started believing in cycles.

Once you see cycles, you can’t unsee them.

Let’s see if we can get into the “Wife Zone” with my theory.

Unified Geopolitical / Monetary / Generational Theory of Western Civilization Cycles

The Generational Engine

Howe and Strauss mapped the rhythm:

  • High
  • Awakening
  • Unraveling
  • Crisis

Gen X sits right at the hinge — the skeptical middle children of history who watched institutions erode and now have to help rebuild them.

The Geographic Engine

Peter Zeihan’s (https://zeihan.com/meet-peter-zeihan/) playground: rivers, ports, plains, oceans, and buffers. Geography gave the West its head start. Demographics are now determining winners and losers.

The Monetary Engine

Every monetary era rollercoaster ends with a reset:

  • Bretton Woods
  • Nixon Shock
  • Petrodollar
  • Volcker
  • Greenspan
  • Eurodollar
  • 2008 / Bernanke Put
  • COVID liquidity flood
  • Inflationary reckoning
  • Stablecoin

Money expands when trust is high and contracts when trust collapses.

The Political Engine

Politics is just the scoreboard of deeper forces — demographics, economics, institutional strength, and crisis pressure. Mass Media in cahoots with politics to shape what you see and suppress what “they” don’t want you to see.

The Civilization Engine

Put all four engines together and you get a repeating pattern:

  1. Expansion
  2. Overreach
  3. Fragmentation
  4. Crisis
  5. Rebuild

Western civilization is somewhere between Stage 4 and Stage 5. Not doomed. Not dying. Just turning the page.

Crazy Train 2026-2030 (ish?)

We’re all on the Crazy Train – not because the world has lost its mind, but because the cycles are doing exactly what cycles do. Gen X knows this isn’t the end; it’s just the loud part before the next horizon.

“Crazy, But that’s how it goes. Millions of people living as foes. Maybe it’s not too late, to learn how to love and forget how to hate.”

Crazy Train – Ozzy Osborne
