Greenland is ice and Iceland is green. Go figure.

Quite a month of February 2026 we’ve had.

So let’s look back at the United States ambitions on the takeover of Greenland. Why would the United States risk threatening a NATO ally? Is Trump insane?

Greenland’s population is small and is considered the least populated country on Earth. It would be simple to take over from a military standpoint.

So why were we talking about buying or just taking it over? Why do the Dutch all of a sudden care?

As far back as 15 years ago, Russia has announced expansion of military operations in the Arctic region. They currently have the largest fleet of icebreakers and ice capable ships in the world.

As an 80’s Gen X kid if we weren’t worried about Thermonuclear War, we were worried about the Soviet Union invading the homeland. Wolverines! Of course, that never occurred.

Fortress America

In this wild board game, set in the 21st century, the Middle East is attacked by nuclear terrorists and the US was able to stop many ballistic missiles using the missile defense system “Star Wars” but not before the destruction of most oil production. War breaks out as three enemy groups. Asians (Yellow), Central American (Blue) and Euro-Socialists (Red) attack from three sides (from the West, South and East) with the goal for the enemy groups to capture 18 of 30 US cities and win the game or the defenders to eliminate all invading forces. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fortress_America?wprov=sfti1#Overview

In the real “Fortress America” we are seeing the United States paying much more attention to Western Hemisphere interests. I’d even speculate the current actions on Iran is a step to allowing the Middle East govern itself so the United States would not have to provide most if not all the security in that region as we had done in the last three decades. For Iran they were given a chance to make a deal and start to align with the ”New World Order” or regional powers and cooperation between those nations. China and Russia will be presented options in the near future. Unfortunately, both countries are nuclear capable and have strategic options to cooperate or to oppose.

As for Greenland, little known upgrades are being made to the Pituffik Space Base. These are being done in collaboration with Denmark but will the “media” cover it?
