“Kings”

I was curious about how many monarchs existed now that we are almost 250 years past the American Revolution and we told King George III we had enough of tyranny. Wikipedia maintains a list of them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_monarchs_of_sovereign_states

I could count 30 from this list plus Pope Leo XIV, which many are ceremonial, like King Charles III of Great Britain. In many ways, the monarchy system was passed along through bloodlines from “royals”. Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, Emperor, Empress. You were either a monarch or a subject.

The major monarchies were challenged during the revolutionary war period in the Americas, Europe and Asia paving the way for self governance and constitutional republics. But also fascism and communism were born out of the imperial governments of kings, emperors and tzars.

Imperialism and Colonialism was challenged and this ultimately came to a conclusion during the World Wars. Imperialism crashed and Fascism was defeated. A new system was needed. Enter the American lead coalition to counter communism and the Soviet Union.

Saying all this, the Americans have not had a “king” since July of 1776 and we are not going backwards.

“No Kings” Protests

In June and again in October 2025 organized groups began protesting in the United States against President Trump and allegations of “authoritarian rule”. This was to include deportations of illegal immigrants and deployment of National Guard forces to deter violence and destruction of federal buildings in cities like Los Angeles and Portland. The purpose and demands of the protesters were a bit unclear. A list of perceived gripes against the current administration. Their own website isn’t even clear about any goals of the “movement”. https://www.nokings.org/about-nk

I can only determine these as a “Hate Trump” protest. About 7 million out of over 250 million United States voting age population. Clearly not yet a significant number. Funny you will not see another “No Kings” protest until Spring. It’s hard to take seriously a movement that is only motivated during fair weather.

The United States is not and will not be a monarchy, dictatorship or any other form of government besides a Constitutional Republic. Too much has been paid. Period.

The King of Kings

As we enter the Advent season we should be asking ourselves what is important and what is not.

We prepare for the arrival of the King of Kings.
